Across the globe, millions of people have been given a “hard reset” for the normal course of their lives. With some insight and some planning, the tough parts of this isolation and slowdown can truly “work together for good” (Romans 8:28). It’s time to come out of this “Upside-down,” and better than we went in.
All the People
“ . . . I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” (Luke 2:10) This sounds very good. Everyone wants good news and great joy. But does everyone honestly want to have to share their joy? With dirty people? With loud, rude people? With shy, inhibited people? With rich and proud “stuck up” people? Can’t groups simply stick with their “own kind”?
Joy—The Foundation of the World
It’s a cold winter night, and the streets of Manhattan look bleak. We serve a meal at 6 pm and everything is already dark. I pass the restaurants in our area—all of them have constructed wooden overhangs so people can eat outside, so that the owners can make at least a little money and still employ a few people.
